In honour of Séamus Ennis’ birthday we are proud to announce that we will celebrating in true traditional style with a spectacular collaboration of traditional Irish music and storytelling in ‘My Father’s Kind’.
This magical collaboration is based on a suite of poems by one of Ireland’s most celebrated and acclaimed writers Dermot Bolger which are brought to life through music and song thanks to the musical talents of renowned Irish musicians: Danny Diamond, Macdara Yeates and Síle Friel.
Through his writing, Bolger pays homage to a variety of 20th century traditional Irish musicians including Séamus Ennis, Mary Ann Carolan and Johnny Doherty. ‘My Father’s Kind’ is a wonderful celebration of a bygone generation of Irish artists, exploring not just their iconic music but the real lives and humanity behind these much loved and celebrated figures.
