Celebrate Lá na Cruite: The Story, Craft, and Sound of the Irish Harp
Immerse yourself in Ireland’s 1,000-year-old harping tradition with an exclusive, two-hour afternoon event celebrating Lá na Cruite (Harp Day). This unique experience bridges the ancient craft of instrument making with the vibrant future of Irish music.
Master woodworker and luthier Sean Smyth of Holly Tree Harps will share his insights into the history, cultural relevance, and meticulous physics of building these iconic instruments by hand. He will demonstrate how raw, premium timber is selected, shaped, and tuned to produce the perfect instrument.
Award-winning harpist and composer Alannah Thornburgh, renowned for blending ancient airs with modern folk and jazz influences, will deliver an intimate live performance and share the folklore behind her music.
