Completely self-taught, Cormac Dennis began his art journey in the galleries of Dublin, with pencils and paper. Nowadays, Cormac works primarily in pastel and oil, but this exhibition also features some of his charcoal and conté work, as he always enjoyed the beauty and drama of tonal work, capturing textures and light in their purest form.
His inspiration comes from the sea, sky and rocks that have twisted and turned by the forces of nature over millions of years.
Cormac grew up as close to the coast as you can imagine in Rush, Co. Dublin. The contrasting flat landscape beyond Rush and stretching out through North County Dublin inspires a lot of his paintings. Cormac also undertakes a lot of commissions (portrait, landscape and sea-scapes) and unusual projects such as Super Garden on television. Cormac has exhibited in RHA, RUA and countless galleries throughout Ireland.
