Access Cinema presents Herself
Having fled her abusive ex-partner Gary, single mother Sandra finds herself trapped in temporary accommodation with her two daughters. Left with few viable options, she draws inspiration from one of her daughter’s bedtime stories and hits upon the idea of self-building an affordable home.
With very little financial support Sandra must use all her ingenuity and call on friends, old and new to support her and lend a helping hand. At the same time, she must continue to keep Gary at bay and protect her children from the bureaucracy that would see their custody handed over to their father.
Claire Dunne gives a quietly powerful performance in this warm drama about finding the strength to ask for help.
