A film commissioned by the state to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1916 Rising. The film reflects the traditional heroic view of the national struggle and presents an uncritical picture of the Irish Citizen Army. Recollections of 1916 veterans are intercut with images of famous buildings and monuments connected with the rising. Survivors of the rebellion share their memories of the events on screen and in writing (read out in English). Narration of the documentary is in Irish. The documentary was released on the Golden Jubilee of the Rising in 1966 and features a score composed by Seán Ó Riada.
