Gavin Povey & The Oke-She-Mokes-She-Pops
All about New Orleans style piano rhythm & blues, Gavin Povey plays piano and sings in an eclectic style, including boogie-woogie, swing, stride, funk and rock’n’roll mixed with hints of jazz, country and blues.

From learning the piano at 5 years of age to discovering rhythm & blues at age 13 (when he heard a 78rpm of Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson performing ‘Boogie Woogie Man’) Gavin has toured and performed with artists such as Van Morrisson, Shakin’ Stevens, Albert Lee, Kirsty MacColl, Graham Parker and Steve Cropper.

He’s joined onstage by bass player Simon Farrell (who’s toured and recorded with Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club, Imelda May, Shane McGowan, Paolo Nutini, Donovan and Albert Lee) and an authority on blues, rock’n’roll and funk “morphing second-line New Orleans grooves into big band swings and shuffles”, drummer Shane Atlas.

Forget toe tapping, this band makes you want to get up and dance!!
